With the Cougars getting ready to prepare themselves for a deep playoff run they headed into the final weekend of the regular season with only one opponent, the University of New Mexico. It was an unusual game to begin with for the Cougars since it was the only game that they played on Sunday the entire season with the start time being in the afternoon at 12:45 PM. The game was scheduled at the last minute against the Lobos in order to have them play another game on their west coast swing, after competing against the CSUN Matadors the night before. Although it was the only game of the weekend for the Cougars they did not disappoint their fans by winning 8 - 4 and successfully going undefeated during the course of the regular season with a record of 19 - 0. This was a huge accomplishment for the Cougars considering they were the only team in the ACHA, including divisions 1 and 2, to succesfully complete a perfect season during the regular season. Although they had to deal with several cancellations to higher division teams and teams within their division they dealt with what the schedule brought and competed against the team's that were willing to play. With the regular season finally being complete they now head up to Fresno, CA this weekend to compete in the PCHA championship and look to defend the title for a three peat. The odd's are looking to be in the Cougars favor since they have been able ot beat every team in the PCHA that they would go up against this weekend. Following the weekend in Fresno they then head to Arizona to face the ASU D1 team in 2 exhibition games to prepare themselves for Nationals. The site will be updated after the PCHA games to keep everyone up to date.

Super fan Arin Lewis showing off his new COC hockey jersey and puckWith the Cougars having their unbeaten streak on the line headed into a two game weekend, they yet again prevailed in fashion. Heading into the weekend the Cougars were 16 and 0 looking to add two more wins to the books with the opponents being Fresno State and San Jose State. The first match-up was against the Fresno State Bulldogs. COC's win against the Bulldogs two weeks ago gave the Cougars confidence to head into the game with high hopes. The Cougars came out with a little Former Fresno Monsters turned Cougar Justin Wilmers, Ben Conroy, and Mike Richmond presenting Arin with his new COC swagmore determination than the previous game against the Bulldogs and beat Fresno by a score of 15 to 1 on Friday night. The scoring was spread around the team with 11 different players scoring goals in the game. Mikey McGrath was in the net and recorded the win for the Cougars. The Cougars were being supported by man people during the Fresno game, but none with the intensity and sheer drive of Arin. COC Coach John Taferner, along with three COC players, presented Arin with a COC hockey jersey and puck to show their appreciation of Arin and his unwavering support.  Thanks Arin! The following night COC faced San Jose State, a team that they have not faced all season but had no problem with. The highlight of the night was the starting goaltender for the Cougars Kasey Morris. After sitting out the first half of the season he was added to the roster for the second half and got his first start in net on Saturday night. Not only was he solid in net but the Cougar's came out firing on all cylinders and won by a score of 21 to 4 improving their record to 18 and 0. It was clearly a great weekend for the Cougar hockey team and were able to continue their quest for a national championship. They have a game against University of New Mexico next Sunday at 12:45 in the afternoon so come out and support your Cougars.

Yet again, the Cougars prevailed this weekend taking 4 points from the UCSB Gauchos in the home and home series that took place on Friday and Saturday. With their unbeaten record still on the line, the Cougars were able to defeat the Gauchos by a decent margin both nights. With the first match-up taking place at the Cougars home rink, they beat the Gauchos by a score of 15-4 spreading out the goals yet again with 9 players recording points on the night. Goaltender Mike Phillips recorded the victory for the Cougars making 12 saves on 16 shots. Although the final score was large, the start of the game was rather close. With the Gauchos scoring the first goal of the game they kept the game close for the first period before the Cougars took off on a scoring spree. Special teams were a factor in this game with the Cougars scoring 8 of the 15 goals on their special teams, 4 coming on the power play and 4 on the penalty kill. After a convincing win on Friday night the Cougars then headed out to Oxnard to face the Gauchos at their home rink on Saturday night. This game was somewhat closer than the night before. The Gauchos were able to take a 2-1 lead in the first period before the Cougars answered back with 3 goals to take the 4-2 lead after the first. The Cougars yet again did another great job at spreading out the scoring with 12 players recording points in the 12-6 victory. Goalie Mike McGrath was in net for this rematch and recorded a victory turning aside 22 of 28 shots on the night.

The Cougars have now improved their record to 10-0 staying unbeaten on the season. They have the holiday weekend off for Thanksgiving and then resume play taking on the Northern Arizona University Ice Jacks on December 3rd and 4th in Flagstaff, Arizona.
