Coming off a two win weekend, the Cougars are ramping up for the last home game of 2011/2012!!!

Although some may think that the season flew past…IT HASN"T!! It's been a grueling but successful season so far, with only a single regular-season game left to play – and it just happens to be a Home Game. So this Friday night at 9:15PMyou'll get your final chance to see this season's edition of your very own Cougars-on-ice, who will be competing againstChapman University.

Of particular note is the fact that this will be the final home game for our "seniors," all of whom are wearing National Championship rings from last season. So get out of the house and come over to Ice Station Valencia to support the student-athletes that have helped bring (even more) national attention to College of the Canyons; they won't let you down and you'll be glad you did!

SEE YOU THERE!!!!

COUGARS ARE RANKED #1

The College of the Canyons Cougars held on to their #1 ranking in the Pacific division of the ACHA Division III hockey league. The Cougars were well respected this time around, receiving all the number one votes (7) from the ranking committee members across the Pacific!

General Manager (GM) Jim Schrage took a minute to write us and said, “We’re fortunate to be ranked #1 again and hope not to disappoint as we finish the season and prepare to represent the Pacific well during the post-season.”

We agree Jim!

GM Schrage is also looking ahead.  He told us, “After a month off of the ice, we got right back into it with a great series against a very tough team (SJSU). Not much to shy away from competition, we’re getting right back to it this weekend with a home game and then off to Oregon for another tough series against a very good Division II team; by the end of the weekend we expect to be back in full stride as we finish the regular season and prepare for the playoffs.”

Keep it going Cougars!  Great job!

What better way to end the semester than to come yell - oh, sorry, "root" – for your #1-ranked Cougs' on their final game of the first half of the season? Yep, you read it right: for the 10th straight ranking period over the last 2 years, your team has been ranked #1 in the Pacific Region of the ACHA. Add to that we're still undefeated-in-our-Division (12-2 overall, losing only to a Division 2 team the first week of the season) AND that the game is against the most competitive team in our Region (CSUN) and you can guess what the excitement level will be for the game!

Saturday night, 12/3/11, 7:30PM vs. Cal State Northridge

Come wish the boys well as they finish off this half of the season and take a little break before jumping right back into it again the first week of 2012.

COC Ranked #1 in the Pacific Division

Northern Arizona came to California undefeated, but left with two losses under their belt.  COC and NAU were the final two undefeated teams in PCHA play, and COC came out the victor.  Night 1, the Cougars had a slow start but finished strong with a 6 to 0 shutout victory over the Ice Jacks.  COC goalie London had an amazing night with over 30 saves, some of which were spectacular.   Night 2 had NAU scoring the their first goals of the weekend against COC, but COC rallied to come out with another win.  Northern Arizona came to California with one of the best teams they have fielded in many years.  Both games were highly competitive, fast, and full of action.  Kudos to NAU for making the drive and making the weekend exciting!  Congratulations to the Cougars for staying undefeated and proving their number one ranking in the West.
