From Captain Brian Voogt:
 Coming into this weekend and being the defending National Champions we know that everyone is going to be gunning for us and giving us their best game. Being the Captain I also know that everyone on the team is going to be looking to me to lead them into the 2011/2012 National Tournament. I keep reminding myself, as well as my teammates, that we need to take it one game at a time. I have good feeling for this weekend because I know that we have a great team who plays extremely hard. The feelings throughout the team are are strong as well as that I know that each player is thrilled to be playing at this years National Tournament. Each one of us can't wait to get one the ice. Being the defending National Champions we all have high expectations. We have a late practice tonight to get our legs ready for our first game tomorrow afternoon vs. Davenport. Per tradition, someone will be trying to break the glass. As we go into tommorrow, I hope that Davenport knows what they are up against. The Cougars have arrived.

Nationals are set! Next week your Cougars hop on a plane flight to Vineland, NJ to defend their national title. 16 teams have proven themselves worthy of competing in the tournament. Stay tuned on Canyonshockey.com for the latest information. This year, following tradition, Brian Voogt (C) will be giving us the "inside scoop" via the Captain's Blog. Be sure to check back often for the news videos, pictures, and information about your Cougars!

2011 / 2012 PCHA CHAMPIONS
The Cougars have done it again. For the fourth time in a row, they have brought home the coveted Adam's Cup! The Cougars met their longtime "rival" the CSUN Matadors in the championship game Sunday evening. This would be the third matchup between these two teams in the championship game. CSUN came out strong scoring 4 quick goals. COC looked to be on their heals barely scraping a goal together to somewhat keep in reach. Coming halfway through the second period though, COC came back and hit hard. They quickly scored four to bring the score to 5 - 4 at the end of the second. Coach John Taferner, Jim Schrage, Andrew McDonald, and Chris Schrage must have worked some magic in the locker room during the ice cut as the Cougars came storming out of the gate during the third. Goal after goal came to the Cougars as they began firing on all cylinders. When the dust settled, COC was over CSUN with a 10 to 4 victory.
This is the first time in the history of the PCHA (founded in 1972) that a team as won the Adam's Cup four years in a row. Many teams have tried, but only one has succeded.
Excellent job Cougars. Keep the momentum going forward heading into nationals! |

2011 / 2012 PCHA PLAYOFF's
This weekend the Cougars start the journey to become a PCHA league record. COC faces off against the best the PCHA has to offer to compete for the Adam's Cup. If COC is victorious they will become the only team in the history of the PCHA to win four straight Adam's Cups.
The schedule is as follows:
Friday, Feb. 3- 1st Round
Game 1- #4 Sacramento State vs. #5 Santa Clara (6 PM)
Game 2- #3 Northern Arizona vs. #6 Fresno State (9 PM)
Saturday, Feb. 4
5th Place Game- 7 AM
Semifinal Game 1- #2 Cal State Northridge vs. Highest Remaining Seed (9:30 AM)
Semifinal Game 2- #1 College of the Canyons vs. Lowest Remaining Seed (6:15 PM)
Sunday, Feb. 5
3rd Place Game- 4 PM
Championship Game- 6:30 PM
CSUN broadcaster Travis Van Noty will be broadcasting all games during the weekend (he will also be broadcasting at nationals). Here is the link:
